Rutland Water (25 km) - The reservoir is a popular sports centre - as well as water sports such as sailing, visitors enjoy fishing, walking and cycling along a 25 mile (40 km) perimeter track. Just 3 miles north of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, Scalford Hall is readily accessible by road, rail and air.
By Car (from the north on the M1):
- From the M1 motorway, take the exit at junction 24.
- Turn left onto the A6 through Kegworth and on towards Loughborough.
- At the end of the dual carriageway (1 mile), turn left onto the A6006 (signposted Rempstone & Melton Mowbray).
- On entering town, continue straight over at the first set of traffic lights.
- Turn left at the second set of traffic lights, into Scalford Road.
- Scalford Hall is approximately 3 miles along Scalford Road, on the left-hand side.
By Car (from the south on the M1):
- From the M1 motorway, take the exit at junction 21a.
- Take the A46 Leicester Bypass towards Newark.
- Follow the A46 left at the roundabout (for 6 miles).
- Ignore the directions towards Melton Mowbray at the first exit and continue on to Sixhills.
- Leave the A46 at Sixhills and turn left onto the B676.
- At the crossroads, turn right onto the A6006 towards Melton Mowbray.
- On entering town, continue straight over at the first set of traffic lights.
- Turn left at the second set of traffic lights, into Scalford Road.
- Scalford Hall is approximately 3 miles along Scalford Road, on the left-hand side.
By Car (from the north on the A1):
- Leave the A1 at the third Grantham exit and turn right onto the A607 into Melton Mowbray.
- On entering the town, pass St Mary's Hospital on the left.
- At the traffic lights, turn right into Norman Way (signposted A606 Loughborough & Nottingham).
- At the second set of traffic lights, turn right (B & H Midland are on the right hand corner).
- Having turned right, the Cattle Market is on your left and you are now on Scalford Road.
- Scalford Hall is approximately 3 miles along Scalford Road on the left-hand side.
By Car (from the south on the A1):
- Leave the A1 at the third Stamford exit and turn left onto the A606 via Oakham into Melton Mowbray.
- On entering the town, continue over the railway bridge and into the town's one-way system.
- Keep to the right-hand lane, turn right at the traffic lights and pass Barclays Bank on your right.
- At the next set of traffic lights turn into the A607.
- Keep to the left-hand lane and turn left at the next set of traffic lights into Scalford Road (50 yards).
- Scalford Hall is approximately 3 miles along Scalford Road on theleft-hand side.
